Extinct Motorsports Products & the Problems They Solve
Every product we make started as a problem on our own trucks. Here's what each one fixes.
Oil level sight glasses
The factory service manual has you check transmission and transfer case fluid levels by pulling the plugs. Our sight glasses eliminate that step and let you check levels at a glance.
Coil pack relocation kit
The factory coil location makes plug wires and coils very hard to reach, which adds difficulty to troubleshooting misfires when they inevitably happen. The kit moves the coils to the top of the intake manifold.
Solar battery maintainer
The D2 has a constant parasitic draw in normal operation. It's harmless if you drive daily, but let the truck sit a week or two and it'll flatten the battery — and repeated deep discharges damage it over time. Any tender counters that, but our solar charger means you don't need an outlet or to disconnect for the occasional trip. Just hop in and drive.
Dual electric radiator fan kit
The factory engine-driven fan is prone to catastrophic failure if it isn't replaced every ~100k, and it's sub-optimal for fuel economy and low-speed temperature control. Our dual electric fan kit is close to optimal across all operating conditions.
Gauge pods
The factory temperature gauge basically shows ranges — cool, sort-of-normal, overheated, and "you need head gaskets." Most owners want a real temperature readout, and there's no factory oil-pressure gauge at all, even though the D2 is known to break oil-pump gears and lose pressure. The trouble is where to mount gauges without a tacky stick-on look — so we designed pods that integrate cleanly with the factory instrument panel.
Cargo nets
Years ago LR had an aftermarket supplier making cargo nets and guards to organize the cargo area. Those are long gone, so we recreated them — plus a few more.
Cargo bin latches
The factory cargo bins are useful but hard to keep organized. We found latches that improve access so you can run a proper kanban-style system and keep your gear sorted.
