Land Rover Thor V8 Coil Pack Relocation Kit

The Extinct Motorsports Engineering coil relocation modification is our latest engineered modification to address the factory design issue. The factory design puts the coils behind the upper intake manifold sandwiched between the firewall where you cannot change a spark plug wire or ignition coil without removing the intake manifold, not impossible trailside but definitely not for the faint of heart.

Kit consist of coil mounting bracket, mounting bolts with spacers and o-ring spacer retainers, and coil connector extensions. Customer will need to supply two additional spark plug wires for cylinder 7 & 8 in place of the factory wire. Re-uses factory coil mounting bolts to mount coils to bracket.

FAQS:

Do I have to remove the upper intake manifold to install this?

- Some customers have left the original coils and wires in place and just installed new coils and wires using the kit without removing the instake manifold

Can I use my existing spark plug wires?

- All of your existing wires will work after relocation EXCEPT #7&8, they are too short after relocation. We recommend using a 2nd set and using the #3,4,5, or 6 wires for 7&8. An added bonus of this strategy is you have several spares from the 2nd set available.

After relocation do I need to remove the coils from the bracket to remove the upper intake?

- If the coils are positioned as shown in the photos the coils do not need to be removed from the bracket to remove the upper intake, the upper intake bolts can be removed without removing the coils

Is the engine heat detrimental to the coils in the relocated position?

- The coils actually run cooler in the relocated position due to being farther from the exhaust and cylinder heads and mounted to the aluminum upper intake that is cooled by the incoming airflow.
