Nanocom vehicle licenses

The Nanocom license belongs to the tool, not to a VIN. The license type is based on engine and body combination, but once you have a license version you can use it on as many vehicles of that version as you want. Additionally, when you add a vehicle version to the driveway, you don't buy a second Nanocom — you buy the activation code for that vehicle and enter it into the unit you already have. Your existing vehicles keep working. The new one appears in the menu.

Buying a Nanocom now

You don't need this page. Go to the Nanocom Evolution and choose your vehicle there — the license for that vehicle is part of the kit, and we activate the unit before it ships.

Own two or three Land Rovers? On that same page you can add a second and third license to the order, and we'll have all of them live on the unit when it arrives. More than three: order the extra licenses here, in the same order, and enter nothing in the Nanocom ID box — we'll match them to your unit.

Adding a vehicle to a Nanocom you already own

This is the right page. Pick your vehicle version above, enter your Nanocom's ID, and check out.

Finding your Nanocom ID:

1. Power up the unit — plugged into a truck, on the 12V supply, or over USB.
2. Go to NANOCOM → SETUP → NANOCOM ID.
3. Write down the six characters exactly as shown. They're case sensitive: A1b2C3 is not the same as A1B2C3.

What happens next:

1. We order your codes from Blackbox against your unit ID. Usually same business day; allow one business day, since Blackbox is in Cyprus and their morning is our small hours.
2. Your codes arrive by email, each with the box number it goes in.
3. On the unit: NANOCOM → SETUP → UNLOCK CODE. Clear each box, type the code exactly as issued, switching the keypad between upper and lower case as needed.
4. Scroll to the last page, press Save Unlock Code, then power the unit off and back on. Your new vehicle is in the menu.

If a vehicle reports "Function Locked" afterward, a code went into the wrong box — each code is numbered and has its own slot. Email us and we'll sort it out.

License versions

A version covers an engine and body combination. One license, every truck you own of that version.

Not sure which engine management your truck has? Early P38 and Discovery I owners in particular: email your VIN and we'll confirm before you buy. A license can't be exchanged once it's issued.

Do I need a lead as well?

The license is the software. The lead is the physical connection. Adding a vehicle from a different family usually means adding its lead too:

• Blue OBDII lead — Discovery II, Defender Td5 and Puma, Defender NAS
• Green OBDII lead — Range Rover P38 and Discovery I
• CAN-bus VCI4 lead, plus an SD card — Discovery 3/LR3, Discovery 4/LR4, Freelander 2/LR2, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover L322 2010–13

Before you order

• Nothing ships. Licenses are digital and arrive by email at the address on your order.
• Non-refundable once issued. A code is generated for one specific Nanocom and can't be reissued, reassigned or reused. That's Blackbox's policy and it applies wherever you buy. Check your engine management and your Nanocom ID before ordering, and ask us if there's any doubt.
• Nanocom Evolution only. If you have a Nanocom LITE, the upgrade path is a different product — email us.
