Add the Range Rover P38 GEMS V8 to the Nanocom you already own

The Nanocom license belongs to the tool, not to a VIN. When you add a vehicle to the driveway, you don't buy a second Nanocom — you buy the unlock for that vehicle and enter it into the unit you already have. Your existing vehicles keep working. The new one appears in the menu.

On a 1994–1998 P38 V8 that opens the body control module (remote and outstation checks, the settings the truck was built with), the electronic air suspension, ABS/traction control, the SRS airbag system, the automatic transmission, climate control, and live data from the GEMS engine.

What this truck needs

This vehicle uses two codes: the P38 Systems unlock and the GEMS engine unlock. Choose the option that matches what your Nanocom already holds and you are charged only for the code you are missing.

• Your unit started as a 1999–2002 P38 Bosch V8 kit or a P38 2.5TD diesel kit? It already has the P38 Systems unlock. You're buying the GEMS engine unlock only.
• Started as a Discovery I V8 kit or a Defender NAS V8 kit? It already has the GEMS engine unlock. You're buying the P38 Systems unlock only.
• Anything else — a Discovery II, a Defender Td5 or Puma, a Discovery I 300Tdi, an LR3 or later: you need both.

Added codes to your unit since you bought it? Go by what it holds now, not the kit it started as.

If you chose the wrong option: we see what your unit already holds. If you owe more, we contact you before issuing; if you paid too much, we refund the difference.

Finding your Nanocom ID

The Nanocom Unit ID box needs your unit's six-character ID. To find it:

1. Power up the unit — plugged into a truck, on the 12V supply, or over USB.
2. Go to NANOCOM → SETUP → NANOCOM ID.
3. Write down the six characters exactly as shown. They're case sensitive: A1b2C3 is not the same as A1B2C3.

How the code reaches you

1. We review your order, check your unit at Blackbox, and order the code against your unit ID — usually the next business day.
2. We apply the unlock to your unit. It appears in your Blackbox account, and we email you the code as well, with the box number it goes in. Nothing ships.
3. On the unit: NANOCOM → SETUP → UNLOCK CODE. Clear each box, type the code exactly as issued, switching the keypad between upper and lower case as needed.
4. Scroll to the last page, press Save Unlock Code, then power the unit off and back on. Your new vehicle is in the menu.

If a vehicle reports "Function Locked" afterward, a code went into the wrong box — each code is numbered and has its own slot. Email us and we'll sort it out.

Do I need a cable as well?

Only if your Nanocom came with the black CAN BUS cable. The P38 talks through the green OBDII cable, so a unit that started as a P38 or Discovery I kit already has it. If yours came with the black cable, add the green cable to this order.

• Nothing ships. Licenses are digital and arrive by email at the address on your order.
• Non-refundable once issued. A code is generated for one specific Nanocom and can't be reissued, reassigned or reused. That's Blackbox's policy and it applies wherever you buy. Check your engine management and your Nanocom ID before ordering, and ask us if there's any doubt.
• Nanocom Evolution only. If you have a Nanocom LITE, the upgrade path is a different product — email us.
