Rent a Nanocom for a week — Discovery II and most other Land Rovers

Need to program a key, recalibrate the air suspension, chase a warning light or sync a module — once? Rent the tool. It's a Nanocom Evolution, verified working on my own D2 before it ships.

It covers the Discovery II and most other Land Rovers we sell a kit for, and it ships with the cable your truck talks through. Not every model is available for rental, so email us your truck before you order.

Cost

• $800 refundable deposit for the unit
• $75 for the week
• $50 two-day shipping, both ways

How it works

1. Download the Nanocom rental contract. Standard equipment-rental terms: you are liable for loss, damage and late fees.
2. Sign it and email the scan to extinct@extinctmotorsports.com before checking out, with your truck's model, year and engine — or its VIN — so we can confirm the rental covers it.
3. The unit ships on a Monday by two-day service. Signature required, so there's no dispute about a lost package — plan to be there.
4. If the box shows any shipping damage, photograph the outside before opening and email the photos.
5. When you're done, record a video of the final shutdown and of the unit going into its packaging and the package being sealed. That video is your proof in any carrier damage claim. If you can't do this, don't rent — you risk losing your deposit if the carrier damages it.
6. Return it in the original packaging with the prepaid return label by the following Monday. Hand it over at a staffed drop-off for the carrier on the label and get a drop receipt — without one you're liable for the full cost if the counter loses it.
7. Late returns are charged $75 per week, up to $800 — at which point the unit is yours. A new week starts every Monday because of shipping time. No negotiation: miss the Monday, pay the week.
8. When it arrives back, we open and test it. Once it tests OK, your deposit is refunded less any late charges.

Care rules

• The screen ships with a protective film. Don't remove it unless you want to buy the unit.
• Use only the included plastic stylus on the screen — anything else and you've bought the unit.
• Connection order: cable to the Nanocom first (screws tight), then to the truck. Disconnect from the truck first, then the Nanocom. Reversing it can blow the truck's diagnostic fuse or damage the unit — and that's damage under the contract.
• Never disconnect power while it's saving or communicating with a module.
• It ships in its original packaging inside a corrugated box, with a return envelope and label. Damage either container and you pay to replace it (it's in the contract).

The hardware is verified functional on my D2 before it ships. Operating instructions for every platform are in our Nanocom Documentation Library.

If you're the first renter on a model I haven't run the unit on (an LR4, for example), I'll help get it connecting. I can't diagnose your LR4's problem — I don't own one, and I won't pretend otherwise. The Land Rover forums are the place for that.
